Dave is an avid sailor and has 15 years and counting of service in the United States Navy. He learned to sail as an undergraduate at Dartmouth College and has raced in Charleston, SC; Mystic, CT; and Annapolis, MD. He was a bowman with a symmetrical spinnaker, but moved to trim and spin trimming and now is skipper of L’il Iggy. He loves being on the water and the serenity of non-motored boating. He kayaks (and has built two wooden kayaks), but loves the thrill and beauty of sail racing. Many of the photographs in the initial album are taken by Dave.
He was an instructor at the Navy’s Nuclear Power School where he learned engineering and many of the principles of fluid flow and materials that apply to sailing theory. He has learned that sailing is a science and an art. He went to law school in Boston where he met his beautiful wife, Kristen and entered the Navy JAG Corps. He is is VA rated for service-connected disabilities and is passionate about helping military veterans.
Dave is also an ACE-certified personal trainer and can work with you – sailing is physically demanding but accessible to almost anyone!
